Money Train 5 Slot Review: Stations, Ultra Mode and Max Win
Our score: 8.6/10
Quick verdict: Money Train 5 brings the series back to 5x4 and gives the bonus a destination: a train that travels through stations, unlocking new symbols as it goes. Nuclear Wilds liven up the base game, and Ultra mode doubles the cap to 100,000x. The most inventive bonus since Money Train 2, with a lot of RTP versions to watch out for.

What's in this review
What is Money Train 5?
Money Train 5 arrived on , three years after Money Train 4 was billed as the series finale. Relax revealed it as a surprise in June 2026, and it launched at more than 700 casinos.
The setting is a post-apocalyptic industrial wasteland with an armored train cutting through it. Old favorites from the gang return, joined by three new characters: the Ticket Master, the Bomber and the Pyromancer. The Wild is a gas mask and the Bonus symbol is a copper orb.
After the 6x6 experiment of Money Train 4, the grid is back to 5x4 with 40 fixed lines. The big idea is in the bonus: the train moves through stations, and every few stops unlock something new, from persistent symbols to an extra row. This Money Train 5 review covers both modes and all seven buys.
Relax's product chief Tony O'Mahony summed up the thinking in an interview: "If a franchise stands for anything, it should stand for innovation, not repetition."

How to play Money Train 5
As in every Money Train game, results are random. You choose the mode, the bet and, where allowed, a buy option.
Choose your bet
Set a stake between $0.10 and $20 in Standard mode. Ultra mode caps the bet at $10.
Match 3 or more
Wins pay for 3, 4 or 5 matching symbols on a line from the left. The gas-mask Wild substitutes for everything except Bonus symbols.
Watch for Nuclear Wilds
At random, crosshairs plant bombs on the reels. Bombs in a winning line explode into full Wild reels.
Land 3 Bonus symbols
Three or more Bonus symbols trigger Free Spins. Add a Ticket Master and you start further down the line as a Super Bonus.
Ride the stations
In the bonus, Tickets push reels off the grid, cash them in and move the train forward. Stations unlock new features.
Collect the total
Values cashed in along the way plus what's left on the grid are paid, up to 50,000x or 100,000x in Ultra.
Symbols and paytable
The paytable follows the series pattern. The four characters pay 0.5x to 0.8x for three on a line and 8x to 20x for five. The card suits pay 0.2x for three and 3x to 5x for five. The Wild pays like the top character: 0.8x, 4x and 20x.
Line wins matter more here than in earlier games, because Nuclear Wilds can turn whole reels Wild and connect several lines at once.
Wild and Nuclear Bomb
Wild
Nuclear Bomb
Wild (the gas mask) substitutes for all symbols except the Bonus symbol. A Nuclear Bomb that's part of a winning combination expands into a full Wild reel.
| Symbol | 3 | 4 | 5 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.8x | 4x | 20x | |
| 0.6x | 3x | 10x | |
| 0.5x | 2.5x | 9x | |
| 0.5x | 2x | 8x | |
| 0.2x | 1x | 5x | |
| 0.2x | 1x | 4x | |
| 0.2x | 0.7x | 3.5x | |
| 0.2x | 0.7x | 3x | |
| 0.8x | 4x | 20x |
At a $0.20 bet, five of the top character pay $4 and three Diamonds pay $0.04. At $1, the same results pay $20 and $0.20.
Nuclear Wild and Enhanced Spins
Money Train 5 replaces the sticky respins of 3 and 4 with two new base-game tools.
Nuclear Wild
Triggers at random in the base game. Crosshairs plant five Nuclear Bombs on the reels; any bomb that's part of a winning line detonates and turns its whole reel Wild.
Enhanced Spins
An optional mode, switched on with the Enhanced Spin toggle on the left of the reels. It costs 1.5x your bet: $1.50 per spin at $1, or $0.30 at $0.20. In return, the chance of triggering the bonus more than doubles. Standard and Ultra versions exist.
Money Train 5 Free Spins: the stations bonus explained
Three Bonus symbols trigger the round, this game's version of the Money Cart. Locking and resetting work like before, but this bonus moves.
How the train moves
The bonus starts with 3 respins, and the trigger symbols show bet values. As usual, new symbols lock and reset the count to 3. The new element is the Ticket, numbered from +1 to +5.
The number is how many steps the reels move from right to left. Each reel moved out of the grid advances the train one station and adds its total value to the total win. Ticket effects always act last, after every other symbol on that spin.
That means the grid keeps refreshing: instead of filling up and stalling, it rolls on. Reviews describe the round ending when the respins run out, as in earlier games.
| Station | Unlocks |
|---|---|
| 5 | Persistent symbols |
| 10 | An extra row (grid becomes 5x5) |
| 15 | Bomber and Pyromancer |
| 20 | Permanent Payer |
Super Bonus and the 500x/2,000x buys start at station 15.
Base Bonus
Worth 1x to 10x your bet.New Ticket Master
Takes the total win and adds it to all other visible symbols. It always applies a 1-value Ticket.New Bomber
Multiplies all visible values by 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x. Unlocks at station 15 and can be persistent.New Pyromancer
Burns a fixed Hot Zone onto the train. Bonus values that land in it or move into it double, and specials that have a persistent version upgrade to it there. Unlocks at station 15.New Permanent Payer
Sits outside the grid from station 20 and pays its value to every symbol on each respin.
Classic Collector
Collects all visible values into its own.Classic Payer
Adds its value to every other visible symbol.Classic Collector Payer
Collects 3 to 5 targets and pays the new total back to each.Classic Sniper
Doubles 3 to 8 symbols and can hit the same target several times.Classic Arms Dealer
Converts 1 to 4 Bonus symbols into feature symbols, which then perform their action.Revive Necromancer
Brings back one or two used non-persistent special symbols.Classic Absorber
Absorbs normal Bonus symbols and their values. Special symbols can't be absorbed.
Collector, Payer, Sniper, Collector Payer, Necromancer, Arms Dealer and Bomber can all appear as persistent versions after station 5. Persistent symbols reactivate on every new spin. Every symbol in the series is compared in our special symbols guide.
Standard vs Ultra mode
Ultra is a higher-risk version of the same game. It doubles the ceiling and halves the maximum bet. It suits players who accept more risk for a higher cap.
| Standard | Ultra | |
|---|---|---|
| Max win | 50,000x | 100,000x |
| Bet range | $0.10–$20 | $0.10–$10 |

| How to reach the bonus | Natural trigger or buys | Ultra Bonus Reels or Ultra buys |
You switch modes with the Game Modes toggle (Standard / Ultra) to the left of the reels. Hit frequencies from OLBG.
Money Train 5 bonus buy: seven options from 1.5x to 2,000x
No Money Train game has offered this many ways to pay. The cheap options (1.5x to 25x) raise your bonus chance on a single spin. The expensive ones buy the bonus outright, and the 500x and 2,000x buys start at station 15.
The RTP difference is small (96.1% vs 96.5%), so the real choice is how much variance you want per click. At a $0.20 bet, the Free Spins buy costs $20 and the top option $400. At $1, they cost $100 and $2,000. Compare all games in our bonus buy guide.
The in-game buy menu confirms the three biggest prices: Ultra Free Spins at 250x, Super Free Spins at 500x and Ultra Super Free Spins at 2,000x. The menu says Ultra Super Free Spins start at station 15.
| Option | Price | What you get | RTP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Enhanced Spins | 1.5x | Higher bonus chance on every spin | 96.1% |
| Bonus Reels | 10x | A spin with more Bonus symbols | 96.1% |
| Ultra Bonus Reels | 25x | Bonus Reels in Ultra mode | 96.1% |
| Free Spins | 100x | The standard bonus | 96.5% |
| Ultra Free Spins | 250x | The bonus in Ultra mode | 96.5% |
| Super Free Spins | 500x | Bonus starting at station 15 | 96.5% |
| Ultra Super Free Spins | 2,000x | Ultra bonus starting at station 15 | 96.5% |
Prices in multiples of the bet. The 250x, 500x and 2,000x prices are confirmed in the in-game buy menu; the others come from reviews. RTPs from OLBG only. Not available where bonus buys are banned, such as the UK.
Money Train 5 RTP, volatility and max win
RTP: 96.1%, with a catch
The default version returns $96.10 per $100 wagered in theory. But Money Train 5 ships with settings of 94%, 92%, 90% and 86% too. On the 86% version, you'd expect to lose about $14 per $100 wagered instead of $3.90. Always check the info screen: our RTP versions guide shows how.
Volatility: high
About one spin in five pays (19.57%). OLBG puts Free Spins at about 1 in 464 spins and the Super bonus at about 1 in 10,291, so the station-15 start is rare without a buy. At $0.20 that's about $92.80 wagered between bonuses on average; at $1, about $464.
Max win: 50,000x or 100,000x
In Standard mode the cap is 50,000x: $10,000 at $0.20 and $50,000 at $1. Ultra doubles it to 100,000x, or $20,000 at $0.20. That's below Money Train 4's 150,000x and above the original's 20,000x.
| Metric | Value | At $0.20 | At $1 |
|---|---|---|---|
| RTP (default) | 96.1% | $19.22 per $20 wagered | $96.10 per $100 |
| RTP (lowest) | 86% | $17.20 per $20 wagered | $86 per $100 |
| Free Spins | 1 in ~464 | ~$92.80 wagered | ~$464 wagered |
| Average bonus | ~95.6x | About $19.12 | About $95.60 |
| Max win | 50,000x / 100,000x | $10,000 / $20,000 | $50,000 / $100,000 |

Money Train 5 vs Money Train 4
Money Train 5 is easier to follow than 4: familiar lines, a Wild and a bonus with a clear goal. Money Train 4 still has the highest cap and the longest feature list. Choose 5 for structure, 4 for the bigger grid.

Pros and cons
What we like
- The stations give the bonus a visible sense of progress
- Nuclear Wilds can turn whole reels Wild in the base game
- A choice of two modes: Standard or the higher-cap Ultra
- Buy options from 1.5x to 2,000x where buys are allowed
- Back to the readable 5x4 grid
What we don't
- Many RTP versions, down to 86%: check before you play
- Lower cap than Money Train 4
- Super bonus at station 15 is very rare without a buy
- Seven buys and two modes take time to understand
Similar games
These games share the respin bonus or the 5x4 line layout, with different twists.
Money Train 4
The previous game: a 6x6 scatter-pays grid with no Wild and a 150,000x cap, but no stations or Ultra mode.
Money Train 3
Same 5x4, 40-line layout with sticky base-game respins instead of Nuclear Wilds, four buys and a 100,000x cap.
Money Train 2
The same line structure and many of the same specials, with a simpler bonus that grows to 7x4 and a 50,000x cap.
Money Train Origins Dream Drop
A classic 5x4 respin bonus with a 1,000x full-grid prize and network jackpots, at a lower 94% RTP and with no buy.
Money Plane
Relax's arcade spin-off from the same universe: no reels, five volatility levels and a 97% RTP.
Our verdict: is it worth playing?
Money Train 5: a fresh bonus idea on a familiar grid.
The stations turn the bonus into a journey. Reels cash out and the train moves forward, so the grid doesn't stall once it fills. Bomber, Pyromancer and the Permanent Payer give the later stations a clear purpose.
It suits players who like the series' respin bonus and accept long gaps between triggers. Skip it if your casino runs a low version such as 86%, or if you want frequent small wins. Check the rules screen, set a budget and try the free-play mode first.

How we checked the numbers
Money Train 5 is new, so we checked what we could on the game's own screens. The 96.10% RTP, the 50,000x and 100,000x caps, the Nuclear Bomb rule and the mode toggles match the in-game rules read in the demo. The full paytable, the special symbol rules, the Tickets and the 250x, 500x and 2,000x buy prices were checked on the in-game screens too.
