Money Plane Review: How Relax Gaming's Arcade Game Works

Our score: 7.9/10

Quick verdict: Money Plane swaps reels for a flying plane that collects values and multipliers, then has to land on the train to pay. A 97% RTP and five volatility levels make it flexible, but there's no cash-out button: once the plane takes off, you just watch. A fun side trip, not a replacement for the slots.

What is Money Plane?

Money Plane is Relax Gaming's first arcade-style game, released on , two months before Money Train 5. Relax says it takes the Money Train universe "to the skies". There are no reels, rows or paylines. Instead, a plane flies through five environments that match the slot series, from the Wild West to a Mars mining colony.

It borrows from the crash games that became popular in recent years, but works differently. There's no cash-out button. Each round plays out by itself, and the plane either lands on the train with what it has collected or crashes and loses the bet.

Tony O'Mahony, Relax's product chief, called it a chance "to extend our creativity and quality into a new style of gameplay." Familiar names from the slots return as power-ups: the Payer, Sniper, Collector and Necromancer.

Gameplay

How a Money Plane round works

You make your choices before take-off. After that, the round runs on its own; there's no button to stop early.

  1. Pick a level and bet

Choose one of five volatility levels and a stake from $0.10. Higher levels raise the max win.

  2. Take off at 1x

The round starts with a value of 1x. The plane flies and bounces off objects on the screen.

  3. Collect numbers

Number icons add +1 to +10 to the running value.

  4. Hit multipliers

X icons multiply the value by 2x to 10x. Bombs cut it in half.

  5. Charge a power-up

Hitting a Payer, Sniper, Collector or Necromancer icon activates a charger. Each object hit after that fills it, and after 4 hits the power-up fires.

  6. Land on the train

If the plane lands on the train, you win the value times your bet. If it crashes, or falls off the train, the bet is lost.

What you'll see

Money Plane icons and power-ups

The power-ups share names with the Money Cart specials, but they work on single icons rather than a grid. For the slot versions, see our special symbols guide.

  • Number icons

Add +1 to +10 to the plane's value.

  • X icons

Multiply the value by 2x up to 10x.

  • Bombs

    Halve the current value.

  • Payer

Power-up: increases the icon nearest the plane.

  • Sniper

Power-up: doubles the icon nearest the plane.

  • Collector

Power-up: collects the icon nearest the plane.

  • Necromancer

Power-up: turns a rocket into a value or multiplier icon.

  • Frequent Flyer

Collect objects to unlock a golden edition of each plane: 1,000 on volatility level 1, rising by 1,000 per level to 5,000 on level 5. Number icons, multiplier icons and power-ups all count. Cosmetic only: it doesn't change the odds.

Risk

Money Plane volatility levels: 1 to 5

Before each round you choose a volatility level from 1 to 5. The RTP stays at 97% on every level. What changes is how that return is spread across rounds.

Level 1 caps at 250x, so in theory more of the return comes back as smaller wins. Level 5 opens the full 10,000x ceiling. To keep the same 97%, it has to pay less often or less per round in between. Caps for levels 2 to 4 aren't published.

At level 1, the most a round can pay is $50 at a $0.20 bet, or $250 at $1. At level 5, the same bets can pay up to $2,000 or $10,000.

Relax's product page also lists lower maximum bets on the riskier levels, while reviewers quote a single figure. The table shows Relax's limits in the casino's currency.

The numbers

Money Plane RTP and max win

Money Plane's RTP is 97% at every volatility level: in theory, $100 wagered returns $97 over a very long run, or $19.40 per $20 at $0.20 bets. That's higher than any Money Train slot in regular play. Relax's product page lists alternate versions with "94" and "92" in their names, which suggests lower-RTP settings exist, though no source confirms the figures. Check the info screen at your casino.

The max win is 10,000x on level 5: $1,000 at the $0.10 minimum bet, $2,000 at $0.20. BigWinBoard puts the hit frequency at 33%, so about one round in three lands on the train with a win. It doesn't say which level that figure applies to.

We found no mention of provably fair verification in any source, so we don't claim it.

Free play is a good way to compare level 1 with level 5. A few dozen flights still say little about either level's long-run return.

Check that the casino is licensed in your country before you sign up. Money Plane is new, so not every lobby has it yet, and it may sit outside the slots section. Open the rules screen to confirm the 97% RTP: Relax's product page hints at lower versions, as our RTP versions guide explains.

Money Plane vs the Money Train slots

Money Plane is a companion, not a sequel. It's quicker and simpler, and it lets you choose the risk level. It has none of the build-up of a Money Cart bonus.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • 97% RTP, higher than the slots in regular play
  • Five volatility levels let you pick your risk
  • Short, easy-to-follow rounds
  • Familiar characters from the series as power-ups

What we don't

  • No cash-out: you can't act once the plane takes off
  • Max win is far below the slots
  • Max bets and the caps for levels 2 to 4 aren't clearly published
  • Little long-term depth compared with a Money Cart bonus

Our verdict: is it worth playing?

Money Plane: a short-round detour from the slots.

Money Plane brings the Money Train characters into a new format. The rounds are quick, the volatility choice is useful, and the 97% RTP is high for Relax.

It suits players who want short rounds and control over risk. Skip it if you like to act during a round, since there's no cash-out. If you prefer longer bonus rounds, Money Train 5 is the newest slot in the series.

Frequently asked questions

Is Money Plane worth playing?

Yes, if you want short rounds and a choice of risk at a 97% RTP. It's less suited to players who want to cash out mid-round or chase long bonus features.

Is Money Plane a crash game?

No, not exactly. Relax calls it arcade-style. It's inspired by crash games, but there's no cash-out button: each round plays out on its own.

What is the RTP of Money Plane?

It's 97% on all five volatility levels. Lower-RTP versions may exist at some casinos, so check the rules screen.

What is the max win?

It's 10,000x on volatility level 5 and 250x on level 1. At a $1 bet that's $10,000 or $250.

How do you win?

It's decided by the landing. The plane collects numbers and multipliers during its flight; if it lands on the train, you win the collected value times your bet.

Is Money Plane part of the Money Train series?

Yes. It's set in the Money Train universe and uses the series' characters as power-ups, but it isn't a slot.

Can I play Money Plane for free?

Yes. Many casinos let you open it in free-play mode with play money. Start from our casino list.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. It's an HTML5 game that runs in mobile browsers, so you don't need a separate app. See our Money Train app guide.

How we checked the numbers

Money Plane has five sets of numbers, one per volatility level, and only levels 1 and 5 have published caps. Facts come from Relax Gaming's launch news and product page, iGB, Gaming Intelligence, BigWinBoard and SlotCatalog.

Sources disagree on the maximum bet (per level on Relax's page, or a flat figure elsewhere). The 33% hit rate is from BigWinBoard only. SlotCatalog also lists a separate "Moneyplane Bail2Win" credited to another studio; it's not this game. Drafts are prepared with AI from this fact base and checked by an editor. Read our editorial policy and review method.

Play responsibly

Money Plane rounds are short, so bets add up faster than they seem. Level 5 returns the same 97% as level 1 in theory, but with longer runs of losing flights. Decide your budget before you start and stop when it's gone.
