Money Train 4 Slot Review: 6x6 Grid, Bonus and 150,000x Max Win

Our score: 8.4/10

Quick verdict: Money Train 4 throws out paylines and the Wild for a 6x6 scatter-pays grid, then builds the richest Money Cart in the series, with more than 20 special symbols. The cap is 150,000x, the highest in the series. It's also the most complex and most volatile game in the franchise.

The reinvention

What is Money Train 4?

The Money Train 4 slot was released on , and it's the biggest break from the formula in the series. Gone are the 5x4 grid, the 40 paylines and the Wild. In their place is a 6x6 grid where symbols pay anywhere, as long as enough of them land.

The setting moves the gang off-world into a dystopian, space-age West. Relax billed it as "The Last Stand": the bandits' final ride, with no future game planned. Three years later, Money Train 5 proved that wrong.

The Money Cart bonus survives, but it's bigger in every direction. It plays on a tall 6x8 frame that unlocks row by row, and Relax counts more than 20 features, including new Arms Dealer, Unlocker and Upgrader symbols.

Relax Gaming Money Train 4 is the only numbered game in the series without paylines or a Wild. Like the others, it runs in HTML5 on desktop and mobile browsers.

Rules in a minute

How to play Money Train 4

There are no paylines to learn. Every result is random, so the only real decisions are bet size, buy option and when to stop.

  1. Choose your bet

Set a stake between $0.10 and $6 per spin. UK stake limits apply (5 per spin, 2 for ages 18–24).

  2. Land a cluster

Wins pay when enough matching symbols land anywhere on the 6x6 grid: 8 or more for the two top characters, 10 or more for the rest.

  3. Watch for respins

After any spin, sticky respins can start at random and build a multiplied win.

  4. Land 3 Bonus scatters

Three or more Bonus scatters trigger the Money Cart bonus. Gold persistent tokens count toward the trigger.

  5. Unlock the rows

The bonus starts with 4 open rows. Fill a row and another unlocks, up to 8 rows.

  6. Collect the total

When the respins run out, the values on the grid are paid, up to a hard cap of 150,000x.

Paytable

Symbols and paytable

Scatter pays means position doesn't matter, only the count. The two top characters pay from 8 matching symbols; the other two characters and the four card suits need at least 10. Payouts rise in eight steps, up to a full screen of 36.

The smallest wins are 0.4x for 10 Clubs or Diamonds and 1.2x for 8 of the top character. A full screen of the top character pays 1,000x, the largest win in the paytable. There's no Wild, so wins build from the symbols themselves and from the sticky respins.

A dash means that count doesn't pay. At a $0.20 bet, 8 of the top character pay $0.24 and a full screen pays $200. At $1, the same results pay $1.20 and $1,000; 10 Diamonds pay $0.08 at $0.20 and $0.40 at $1.

Base-game sticky respins

After any spin, the respin feature can trigger at random. The symbol that appears most often on the grid becomes sticky and you get one respin. During respins only blanks, more of the sticky symbol and multiplier symbols can land.

Every new sticky symbol or multiplier resets the respin, so the feature runs until a respin brings nothing new. Multipliers don't stick: their values are added together and the total multiplies the final win. AboutSlots puts the feature at about once every 25 spins.

Seven Spades are on the grid, so Spades turn sticky. Respins add five more Spades and multipliers of 2x and 3x. Twelve Spades form a win, and the total multiplier of 5x applies to it.

Illustrative example; exact multiplier values are set by the game.

The main event

The Money Cart bonus in Money Train 4

Three or more Bonus scatters start the Money Cart. It works like every Money Train bonus, but it grows in rows instead of reels and has the biggest cast of special symbols in the series.

A grid that grows upward

The bonus plays on a 6x8 frame. Only the middle four rows are open at the start: 24 positions. You get 3 respins, and every new symbol locks in place and resets the count. Fill a row and the next locked row opens, up to four times, until all 48 positions are in play. The Unlocker symbol can open rows too.

The round ends when the respins run out or when the total reaches the 150,000x cap. We found no evidence of a fixed full-grid prize, so we don't list one.

Feature buy

Money Train 4 bonus buy: 100x or 500x

Where it's allowed, there are two buy options. The Original Feature costs 100x your bet, as shown in the in-game buy menu (200.00 at a 2.00 bet), and guarantees the bonus is triggered. The menu also lists a Persistent Feature; Relax Gaming and review sites price it at 500x, with a guaranteed persistent symbol in the bonus. At a $0.20 bet they cost $20 and $100; at $1, $100 and $500.

Both buys are listed at a 96.5% RTP, a figure from Relax Gaming and review sites rather than the buy menu.

AboutSlots and OLBG put the average bonus win at about 96.5x, close to the 100x price, which matches the RTP. Many rounds land below that average and a few huge ones pull it up. See our bonus buy guide.

The numbers

Money Train 4 RTP, volatility and max win

RTP: 96.1%

In theory, every $100 wagered returns $96.10 over millions of spins. The bonus buys run at 96.5%. Several sources list a lower 94% version. AboutSlots also lists a 90% version, which no other source confirms. Our RTP versions guide shows how to check.

Volatility: very high

Hit frequency is 20.14%, about one spin in five. The sticky respins come roughly every 25 spins and the bonus about every 387. That's around $77 wagered between bonuses at a $0.20 bet, or $387 at $1. Player-tracking site SlotTracker recorded about 1 in 412 over roughly 109,000 spins.

Max win: 150,000x

The cap is 150,000x your bet, the highest in the series: $15,000 at $0.10, $30,000 at $0.20 and $150,000 at $1. It's a hard cap: the bonus ends the moment it's reached.

The first documented Money Train 4 big win at the cap came the day after launch. BigWinBoard reported 150,000x on a 10-cent stake, from the 500x persistent buy. It's a single result at the extreme end; the average bonus is about 96.5x.

Head to head

Money Train 4 vs Money Train 3

Same RTP, very different games. Money Train 3 is the last of the classic line-pay games; Money Train 4 is a new engine. If you find paylines dull, Money Train 4 is the more interesting game. If you want the classic feel, stay with 2 or 3.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • A fresh 6x6 scatter-pays engine that feels different from the earlier games
  • The richest bonus in the series, with 20+ features and Upgraders
  • Two bonus buys at the same 96.5% RTP, where buys are allowed
  • Frequent sticky respins keep the base game moving

What we don't

  • Steep learning curve: a lot of symbols to understand
  • Very high volatility, bonus about once in 387 spins
  • Low $6 maximum bet and no Wild
  • Many paytable steps to learn: eight counts for each symbol

Similar games

These games share the Money Cart respin bonus. None of them uses the 6x6 scatter-pays grid, so expect a different base game.

  • Money Train 3

The same 96.1% RTP and many of the same specials, but on 5x4 lines with a Wild. It has four buy prices and a 100,000x cap.

  • Money Train 5

The 2026 follow-up, back on 5x4 lines. Its bonus moves along train stations and adds Bomber and Pyromancer symbols.

  • Money Train 2

A simpler 5x4 game with base-game respins, a 96.4% RTP and a 98% buy. Volatility is high rather than very high.

  • Money Cart series

Bonus-only games built on the same respin idea. Bonuses come far more often, and wins are much smaller.

Our verdict: is it worth playing?

Money Train 4: the boldest game in the series, best for experienced players.

Money Train 4 is a genuine reinvention. The scatter-pays grid gives the base game more texture, and the row-by-row bonus with Upgraders and Arms Dealers produces rounds that build for minutes.

It suits players who already know Money Train 2 or 3 and want a different base game. Skip it if you're new to the series or on a small budget. There's a lot to learn, and the volatility is the highest in the series.

Frequently asked questions

Is Money Train 4 worth playing?

Yes, for experienced players who like very high volatility. The Money Train 4 slot is the most complex game in the series, with a 6x6 grid and more than 20 bonus features.

What is the Money Train 4 RTP?

It's 96.1% in regular play and 96.5% on both bonus buys. Some casinos use a 94% version.

What is the max win?

It's 150,000x your bet, the highest in the Money Train series: $30,000 at a $0.20 bet. The bonus ends as soon as the cap is reached.

Which Money Train 4 bonus buy is best?

It's a question of price and variance, not value: both buys have a 96.5% RTP. The 500x Persistent Feature starts with a persistent symbol but costs five times the 100x Original Feature. Neither is offered in the UK.

Does Money Train 4 have a Wild?

No. It uses scatter pays on a 6x6 grid, so wins come from enough matching symbols anywhere, without a Wild.

How do you trigger the bonus?

It's triggered by 3 or more Bonus scatters. Gold persistent tokens also count toward the trigger.

Is Money Train 4 the last game in the series?

No. Relax presented it as the final game in 2023, but Money Train 5 followed on September 24, 2026.

Can I play Money Train 4 for free?

Yes. Most casinos that carry it let you open the game in free-play mode with play money, and some ask you to log in first. The math matches the real-money game.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. It's built in HTML5 and runs in iOS and Android browsers, so no separate app is needed. More in our mobile guide.

How we checked the numbers

Money Train 4's scatter paytable is rarely published in full, so this Money Train 4 review checks it against the in-game paytable screen. For everything else we start from Relax Gaming's product page and the Gaming Intelligence interview, then cross-check against BigWinBoard, SlotCatalog, AboutSlots and HideousSlots. The first max win: BigWinBoard; tracked results: SlotTracker.

Where sources disagree, we say so. Some claim all symbols pay from 8, list "8 paylines" or a 70% RTP; we treat those as errors. The 90% RTP version and the 1-in-387 bonus frequency come from AboutSlots only.

The text was drafted with AI from this fact base and checked by an editor. Read our editorial policy and review method.

Play responsibly

Money Train 4 is rated very high volatility, and its bonus averages about 1 in 387 spins. Frequent sticky respins don't make the bonus any more likely. Set a budget first, stop when it's gone, and never gamble to make money.
